Imprisoned by tomorrow

Everyone run their everyday based on their tomorrow.
Some run their 24-hours based on their next twenty four;
Some run their today based on a near or a distant future;
Some run their present based on at least the thought that- “Some day
I should not be living the same way.”
How long would you run so O man! How long?
How long could you run so O man! How long?

The fuel gets over; the engine becomes heated;
The parts go rusted; and you become old.
Were you the same on your first day?
Were you the same on your second day?
Let’s be more generous, were you the same on your 365th day?
You say that you were not.
So, when did it all begin? Why did it all begin?
Was it in the Garden? When did you get out of there?
When are you going back? Is it after sixty?
Is it after seventy? Or is it when your curtains close and coffins rise?

A high school goer studies today for tomorrow’s exam!
A college student strives through a semester for his future job!
Now, this is not wrong but this is the way it is!
 It is more convincing here-
A man in his late 20’s earns and saves for he has a family ahead;
A man in his mid 30’s works the extra-hour for now his children are at school;
A man in his early 40’s is at the hospital for he cannot afford to lose his health.
It is strange indeed but it is enough for a noble life- Noble, according to whom?
Noble, according to another noble man!
Noble, according to a noble society!
Noble, according to the noble responsibilities of life!

Some stop and think;
Some question the realities of life;
Some combat not to be acted upon but to act.
Yet, is there any difference? Yes, may be!
But what good does that difference offer?
You risk losing the audacity of being normal.
Are they audacious who are normal? - Yes, they are.
Indeed they are audacious enough to be passive in life
Because that is surrendering oneself to the bitter truths of life.
That takes courage knowingly or unknowingly-
Courage to sacrifice yourself on the altar of injustice of life
Courage to lose you in the roller-coaster ride
Just to be sealed one day with the title-
“You have done a good life.”

Truly that is good life but does it lose love in the storms?
Does it lose the hold on desire? Does it lose sight of the purpose?
Love to love oneself?
Love to stop and love others?
Love to feel things? Love to do things one wants to do?
Those who do not do a noble life, are they not doing a good life?

If love could be the supreme garment for everything in life
Then why not begin with love?
Not to be distorted and swayed away by the high tides of life;
But to love and act, to love and live, to love and celebrate!
And one will have nothing to lose but
Everything to gain at the end. For
With love things become meaningful
And with love things become beautiful
And with love God becomes closer!
